Video Deposition
If a witness is called to be at trial but cannot attend, the
next
best thing is a video deposition. Nothing else offers the capability
of presenting the testimony of the unavailable witness as the video
deposition. The Judge and jury are able to see and hear the witness
give their testimony.
Searchable Video
By synchronizing the video and transcript you have the ability to search video content. This can be a big time saver. When I presented this to one legal assistant she said she could have done in 2 hours what took her 2 weeks to do. Like a free DVD demo?
Other features with this service include making your own clips, exporting those clips, exporting audio only files, taking screen shots and exporting to trial presentation software.
And because the final product is a DVD with a stand alone player installed you don't need any additional software to work with your deposition.
Reasons for using a video deposition might include.
-
a young witness might be intimidated in court
-
the expense to bring in an out of town witness
-
scheduling for many professionals can be a problem
-
some people are very nervous in court
- a demonstration done at a remote location
In the right case, using a video deposition to present testimony
improves the flow of evidence, eliminates calling witnesses out of
order, makes the trial more interesting and reduces uncertainty.
